In 82 I visited the first time Sweden. They had a law that obligated every vehicle to have including at day time the head lights on.
I continued driving with head light switched on since then as the first guy in our area in North Germany.
In 84 I had to give "last auxiliary help" at an accident I witnessed where the boy rode without light on a dizzy morning. Just a second after I thought "oh, what risky"
A car came out a side street for to rob our priviledge and hit the boy with his 80ccm bike right in the front. I still se him flying 18m without the helmet crossing my lane. (the helmet was clossed but floppy and got lost at the hit against the motor trunk)
After that many more riders adopted that custoum. I guess nowerdays it is even obligated in Germany too.

In my eyes riding with head light switched on is calling more attention and can save lives.

In Canada, motorcycles must always have the lights on since before 1980. They all come without a light switch to make sure you don't turn them off. They usually only come off for a short duration while you hold the starter button down to give all the power to the starter. You get a fine if they catch you with the front light out, even for a burnt bulb!
Canadian cars adopted the same rule in the 90's, seems like a better option for the nordic communities that often have sunrises/sunsets during rush hour.
I seem to remember that Greyhound buses had discovered in the 60's or 70's that their accidents went down significantly (>80%?) when they kept the headlights on.
Keep the headlights on to be seen, even high beam during daytime is better.

Here in GA. all of the later model cars have headlights that come on when the car is started. Most scoots require that you turn them on. I
just leave the light switch on all the time. When you turn the motor off the lights go off. I also wear a safety vest that can be seen at a
distance. Keep your eyes open all the time. The really dangerous car drivers will be driving with a cel phone held to their ear with their
shoulder talking and trying to drive at the same time. When they hit a rider or another car the excuse is that they never saw him.

This is the reason I hate the dark tinted windows in the front doors of vehicles. I hat it when I can't see what the driver is doing and where he is looking.

you normally look far ahead. with the dark windows you don't only canot see what he is doing, but what happens ahead neither.
By the way when you ride with the head light switched on all the time as nice side effect the bulb doesn't burn as often.
