Good day fine Hackers! I was looking for input: since I'm not having any luck selling my Kaw W650 w/ Velorex rig, I was thinking about putting the Velorex onto a KLR650 for some light offroad travel. The hack is from the '80's and I've heard the axel is not that strong? Can I get some feedback on this idea? Thanks for the time, Aldo in Jersey
I would guess that would be a good match.
You could upgrade the axle and wheel.
Be careful about the sidecar mounts-off pavement work puts a lot of stress on everything and you want it mounted up solid.
The KLR has a reputation for shearing the bolts that hold the rear frame loop. If you haven't upgraded them(check the KLR chat lists-there are kits out) think about doing so. At least keep an eye on the bolts, make sure they are snug and don't go AWOL.
