The above link is for a 4 point shoulder harness type seat belt from J.C. Whitney Auto Parts. It's $70 and includes all hardware. Available in Black, Red, Blue and Purple. Not for racing purposes but excellent for daily use. Double shoulder strap harness is sewn onto the lap belt and as such is not optional use for the person wearing it. I may buy this for my rig.

You may check out the CJ sites, as I have seen some sidecar pics at one of them in the past, showing a CJ with a three point belt. I believe it was also shown on Mr. Lee's parts section, but I could not find it to show. I don't know if CJs normally have anchoring points built in on their hacks or not or if the owner did his own anchor point welding. Sorry, but I could not locate the specific shoulder belt assembly I am referring to, but I do know it was on one of the CJ 750 sites in the past.

we used the lap belt to secure her auto car seat,..upper teather point secures to the luggage rack,..this gives her a 5 point harness same as the auto, with a slight comfortable recline,..she tends to fall asleep after her movie ends(DVD),..hehe crawf.

In our local tv news tonight, Roanoke, VA, was a report of a rig that had hit a Jeep that made an illegal U-turn in front of the rig. The driver of the rig and his six year old passenger were ejected. There was no report of injuries to the Jeep driver or the extent of the injuries to the sidecarists.
It may have been more than just a drive around the block, but it doesn't seem like the little boy in the sidecar was wearing a seat belt. That seems a shame because, although the bike and sidecar were damaged, if the child had been belted in, he most likely wouldn't have been injured.

There are always "What if"s and after thoughts. I lost a friend years ago when he, his wife and young daughter went over a cliff on US 1 in CA after hitting a deer with his Harley rig. Only the daughter survived.
A sidecar that's snug on an adult may still allow a child to rattle around it inside like a dried pea in a pod. There's no good solution, only the precautions we are able to take in hopes that they're good.

I'm thinking about installing a Harness type belt in my car for optional use if the passenger is small or feels insecure without it. Whether or not it will function as it's designed to prevent injury is an open question. I often have different passengers so I rather expect that it won't get used a lot.

If seat belts weren't mandated in automobiles I rather expect that most people wouldn't wear them.

I have a belt made (for trousers) using a seat belt buckle and webbing. I wonder if that would make the officer not give you a ticket because you are "wearing" a seat belt (No). I wouldn't be the least surprised if someone didn't try that.
