How to determine year of a CSC Friendship 3
Last fall I found a CSC Friendship 3 on this site and now making plans to get it painted and attached to my GL1800. The person I bought this from could not confirm the year of manufacture and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how to narrow this down.
It does have a "plate' on the frame that gives a serial number however I checked with CSC and their response was "Unfortunately, there is no identifying aspects to establish a giving year to the sidecars. .... I am not sure where this number comes from or what it represents. It does not provide any additional insight to the model or year".
The sidecar does have a wheel brake, an auxillary fuel tank and a "wing" on the back. It does NOT have the electronic "tilt".
And looks like it has the more recent "Honda" style tail light vs the earlier "Peugot" style.
.... just curious!

I'd give Peter a call at Side Effects in Kamloops BC. Years ago he was closely associated with them and may be able to give you a rough idea. I have a Friendship II... no clear idea of when mine was manufactured either. Does it really matter as long as it has the features you want? Are you lucky enough to have a brake on yours?
You are right... the year of manufacture makes no difference! It is a matter of curiosity only. Also, I have talked to Brock at Side Effects and he has given me tons of information. In fact, they are going to do the setup for the bike and sidecar!
@ Bernie --- you are lucky to have gotten that much information from them. I, too bought a CSC FS 3 last fall and called them for serial number information -- all I got was " we no longer make sidecars"
Check out this post from Sidecarmike gots good info ---- http://www.sidecar.com/mbbs22/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=8938&start=1&highlight=friendship+tail+light&highlightmode=1
