How much is too much?
I now have five sidecar rigs and I was wondering if I had a problem.
1973 Jawa 362 with Velorex 560
1978 Yamaha SR500E with Velorex 560
1978 Yamaha SR500E with Velorex 560
1980 Yamaha SR500 with Bingham MKI
1984 Yamaha XT600Z with MZ Superelastik
Is there anyone else out there like me? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Well why not take this 2000 Valkyrie with Tomco wheelchair sidecar off my hands then you only have one more to go to have one a day to ride..
some is good, more is better, too many is just right.
fly, who only has 3
Where in the world do you store them? Me, my garage is limited in space and has to share the space with my wife's car. My pocket book is severely limited as well, but the dream garage in my mind is always big enough to house lots more, no matter the price. π
You don't play golf with just one club.
I'm jealous.

I once (1983 or 85)got invited into the house of a North Sea gas platform engineer near Edinburgh.
The most astonishing was his Grandfathers 750ccm, 3 HP single cylinder from 1903 with the tax plate up to date and running strong.
The second astonishing a Jaguar "E" serial number 27 in original condition.
The third I remember well was a Borough Superior Boxer, very neat. For me the first time I met one of them.
And the rest?
4 cars / 34 bikes with and without side car of all kinds and brands and a excellently equipped machine shop with machinery from the 20ees in top condition.
Might that be Scottish tradition? Buy things once! And keep it in original condition ?!
He definitely has a good fund to select from. When I met him on the road some 40 mi earlier he had a good time on a 1954 650 AJS and I had to sweat a little to keep up with him on my new CB650.
I myself was not able to collect what I would love to, but anyway I have my rig / my 1960 Willies (waiting for a engine overhaul) / 4 other cars for the job and wife and dream of a long stroke twin engine with kings shaft...
Again a Norton Commando... No thanks! I love my life too much (mine smashed me in Death Valley in 1988 /...But a Kawa W650 calls my attention since it came on the market.
And there is a many year long dream... a rig with switchable hydraulic 1/(2)/3 wheel drive...
I have a cousin (Dr. eng.) who has a house full of model railways, now he owns a private railway with 4 full size locomotives. He made his hobby his profession. Ain't that the idea of living YOUR life in pure essence?
I live in a country where others save for years for to make vacations.
It's a tough life here, but it is the life I choose when I asked my best half if she would like to marry me.
Everybody lives the life he chooses to live. For me my "vicious" are my job as engineer, bikes and fishing.
...
Your 5 rigs show a line and continuity.
To me it boils down to one thing, live YOUR life in a sane manner without hurting anybody and you are free to enjoy it in the way YOU want.
"Remember you live now" - And there are no second changes to wipe out the lived moments and start new again. => So live conscientiously every moment!
Here we go.

to quote from that great, modern, philosopher, Billy Idol, " yea, too much is not enough!"
Thus my own philosphy about bikes, rigs, and other mechanical toys.
As my darling wife is quick to point out when others question my collection, I pay my bills, my kids are in college, we own a nice home, we want nor need for anything. I don't gamble, don't drink to excess, don't do drugs and I don't fool around on her. Sooooo, if I choose to spend a little of our discretionary green on bikes (or, as she calls them, my motorized mistresses) so be it. Besides, one of them is hers!
"to fully savor the flavor of life, take big bites. Moderation is for monks." I read that on the wall of a monestary in Bavaria.

one of the 4 cars went away yesterday (got the call in the morning and at dawn we sat at the lawyer)... as saving for a new work horse... today is "all soals" and my 45th birthday... how about a "autoregalo" in the shape of a watercooled bike with Earles fork....
Now let's hit the road for the restaurant.

Five rigs? It sounds good to me. I'm fond of saying that if some is good, more is better and too much is just right!
