How about yet another Doggie Question
I have two large pups Rose a White Shepard and Russ a Choc Lab who have taken to my new Hanny GTL hooked up to my 08 Honda airbag wing. They have a seatbelt/harness system that straps them inside the car but I would like to see if anyone knows of DOT helmets for pups.

Go back through the past threads here about dogs and you can find pics of various dog helmets. None are DOT approved, as far as I know. I am doubtful that there is any such made. Prices vary on most of the helmets, but range from stupidly expensive to more than stupidly expensive. Zoomer helmets are the most common, but they are just a piece of plastic, more for show than any saving of the dog's noggin' in a wreck.

Thank you very much for the reply, I do have some Zoomer Helmets for the pups, but as you say those are just for show and I would not put them on for actual riding as I think they would do more damage than good.
I was wondering if anyone had tried to seriously tackle theis from a saefty point of view, I guess not?? I have looked at quite a bit an as I think you put it wonderfully.
If anyone else has come up with anything different please let me know.
Thanks again.

Finding a helmet for Archie is a lot like finding a car tire for the back of the Harley. I've given up and accepted that it's not going to happen.
Persis' helmet is show only. Although, she likes it, as it keeps the wind out of her big ears.
I was thinking that a child or toddler bike helmet could be adapted by cutting styrofoam and adding it inside the helmet, as necessary. However, I have never seen the Bell helmets for toddlers actually sold in the Target stores I have shopped in. It is listed at their website though at www.target.com, so you can view it there and see if it may work for your needs.
The best helmet I have seen is from http://www.ironhorsehelmets.com/Dog_motorcycle_helmet.htm
Hope it downloads on the link. I have 3 dogs who ride in my hack, so the price is too high to purchase 3 of them. For one it may be ok though and I have such on my wish list............the list is on hold though.
