Hi, just jumped into the sidecar side of the bike world with a new Ural Gear Up this week. Having a blast. Why aren't sidecars more popular? I don't get it. And I don't know why I waited this long to get one!

Cheers!

Rob

Gary, I will definitely give you a call. My In-laws are in Parksville and I go through Nanaimo several times a year. Thanks for the offer.

By the way, any of your folks ride in the winter/snow ????

Rob

Hi Rob!
That's a great photo! Really captures the joy!

I do ride in the snow. You can see some of my tips and adventures here:

Your Gear Up should be fun in the snow. Put knobs on and have a great time!

I don't know why I can't embed the photo here but you can click on the attachment below to see Uncle Blasto's Gear Up on it's maiden voyage in the snow...

No winterriding planned, going skiing in November.-Rode 12 month a year
in Germany in the early fifties(when i was young and foolish).Things were a lot more primitive then.No heated grips, windshields, fleece clothing etc.
For winter rallyes we used recap tires with sawdust cast into the rubber
and sometimes spikes made of bolts through the tire with another tire inside to protect the inner tube.We tried a bicycle chain ina groove
going around the front tire.No electric starters. At 10 below it took a lot of kicking to get a 600 ccm Zundapp or BMW started.I had a lot of fun.
Just took up bikes 3 years ago when I moved to Vancouver Island.Have done a lot of exploring since. All the Westcoast points:Winter Harbour,Gold River,Tahsis,Tofino ,Ucluelet,Bamfield,Port Renfrew and points in between.Gary

I do indeed ride in the snow. Everyone I talk to thinks I'm crazy. I live in a winter resort and I simply ask them if they ski or snow mobile. You can see the light bulb go on in their eyes. "Oh, yeah, I get it" is the usual response. Any way, I don't have swing arm clearance for chains so I am limited to studs. While they are an improvement, you still have to be extra careful. There is trouble at every intersection. I can't count the number of people who drive without scraping the frost from their windshield.

Nice pics folks. I like the studded tire idea...
I'll try first with plain knobbies and see where that takes me!
