Well, I got my bike back today with the sidecar mounted. Won't get it painted until this fall or next spring. Don't want to waste riding time.

I had a heck of a time when I first tried to ride it. Couldn't get the hang of turning or keeping my feet on the pegs when I stopped.

After practicing all afternoon I am starting to get used to how it handles. If the weather holds I will ride it a little every evening this week and hope to be ready to go for a 50 or 60 mile ride this weekend.

Find a big parking lot and practice pratice pratice right hand turns going a little faster when you feel comfortable doing so, this is VERY important Fred, if your out and about and you don't get the right hand turn right you can exit left into traffic in a heart beat.

Like the others said, practice!
Soon your sidecar skills will be second nature, just don't forget to put your feets down when you go back to riding a solo, it could be an embarrassing stop! lol

I live in the country and don't have any large parking lots within 14 miles. I do have a lot of black top roads around and some are curvy to I have been practicing on them.

I may take the bike to the large parking lot this weekend. Smaller town of 11,000 and I can sneak in the back way without much traffic.

I have been looking at sidecars for two years. The only one I drove, and that was off road, was a Ural Gearup. We decided we wanted a sidecar so I bought one and had it installed. Got tired of thinking about it and just did it. No regrets yet.

Ha, I hadn't thought about riding a solo bike after being on a sidecar rig. Would be really embarrassing to forget to put my foot down.

I will keep you posted on how I am doing. I wish there was a sidecar class around here but there isn't and very few sidecars period. I plan on taking it slow and staying out of towns as much as possible.

Go get'em Fred !!! :o) I'm in the same boat. No sidecars around here? I chose to build mine. But I could have just as easily just bought one and bolted it on. But I like to build stuff:o) Still a little nervous to see If I'll like it or not? But I think It'll fit me good:o) We'll see.

Have fun, Wes

That's great you can build your own. I spoke with a guy that said he had done that once. Said he used plywood and covered it with valley tin that he glued to the plywood. He painted it and covered the seams with trim. Sounds like it looked and worked good.

Post some pictures when you get it done. I am not sure I am that handy.
