What do you use to get the bike and sidecar off the ground for maintenance, oil changes, what ever.

USE A LIFT OR JACK IT MAY HELP TO BREAK SIDECAR FROM BIKE DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO DO

this is what I use, besides a standard auto jack or ATV lift.

Thanks For the reply,, I appreciate it.

What you have is what I thought about doing but storing them would be a problem for me, that's why I'm looking for something different, somewhere on the forum list someone mentioned that they used a ATV lift and added steel angle out far enough to pick up the sidecar frame and I was hoping they would respond because I have a few questions, something I do have in mind is a over head lift, I have to get the rig up in the air, I have a Shadow 1100T and it's just to low to the ground for my back and knees.

Looking at your rig brings back memories, I had a 1976 R90/6 that I put a LOT of miles on, I got a ST1100 Honda and give my son the Beemer and he took it to the mid west twice and the engine has never been touched, everything is OEM,,,amazing.

Hi,

I just need to get it up in the air, I have a Shadow 1100T and it's just too low for my back and knees, someone on the list said they used a ATV lift and added angles to it far enough to pick up the sidecar, I was hoping they would respond because I have some questions, I do have plans for a overhead lift but a ATV lift would be a lot easier.

Thank You for your reply, I appreciate it.

Ted

Forgot to mention that I really like the way you designed your platform with the swing out tool/parts area, good idea.

I have a Shadow 1100 to I was the one that posted about the ATV lift. What I do is to lift the bike with the lift and put a suport under the sidecar wheel. Some times I use a bike table and a car suport. Send me your phone # or call me can explane better

storing is no problem...the ramps slide inside the main parts for stroage and the side work areas fold flat against the main part also. then you stack one on top of the other... you end up with a floor space of 18" by 8 feet..easy to slide against a wall somewhere.

I forgot to mention that an auto jack or scissors jack can also be used on the platform to get the wheels odf the surface...bike OR sidecar wheel.
for quicky lifts I just slide my ATV hydraulic lift[$90 at local store] under the bike and an auto jack under the SC axle...then pump away!!

Storing is no problem?,,,you haven't seen my garage 🙁
What I'm going to do today is make me a drawing and see if I can make in such a way that it will all fit flat by putting hinges on the corners and using the top to lock it in to a usable platform.

I don't have a lot of room in my garage. I just use a Harbor Freight roll around floor jack and cribbing. If it will lift my 3/4 ton Ford truck, it'll lift my sidecar rig. I even built a drop in motor cradle that makes removing and installing the engine a breeze

Ron,,,Thank You for your offer to help, I do appreciate it, I'm going to build a ramp stand, the ATV lift interferes to much with what I want to do.

Thanks again Ron,

Ted

to those who want to build, or modify the ramps... it is not my design. I found it on the net...here is the link.

you can click on the various EXE's for 3D moveable pics of the parts also.
after opening the window click'run' then 'animate ' then the drop down opens ..click 'continuous play'
