Without the sidecar I usually get 60mpg on my 750 Honda Shadow Aero. With sidecar I get about 50mpg. I usually don't go over 55mph and I don't rush to get up to speed.

Upper 50's in rig mode, low 70's bare.
50-55 mph rig mode, 55-60 mph bare.

I thought for sure I would be the tops 🙁

I'm partway into a 4,000 mile circuit of the northcentral and western states. The bike is a Road King w/TLE, wife, and luggage. At 70 + MPH with a headwind - 29-30 mpg. Today at 60 MPH and no wind I got almost 35 mpg.
My wife of 47 years said "If that's all the mileage we get we could have been in the comfort of a car!".
Who can understand women???

Solo on two wheels, I would get 48 to 50 mpg on my wife's 03 Triumph Bonneville. Two up, we would get 42 - 44 mpg. Adding the side car to her bike dropped the mileage to around 42 - 44 solo and 38 - 42 with passenger. As others mentioned above, speed and head winds have a tremendous effect on mileage. Also, the ethanol blended gasolines have dropped our mileage two to four mpg on our bikes and in our cages.

I had not checked my MPG in some time but did today. I have a Honda shadow 1100 with a Velorex 565. I have been running Gulf reg and am getting 32.11 MPG in town. Oh I have it running a bit rich which is not a bad thing in the Fla heat.

It is a nice evening I think I will go to the beach. 🙂

Hi Group,

Well, with my old '77 XS650 and the "Sport" sidecar, I got between 45 and 50 miles per gallon on my trip to Montana and back. I traveled at between 55 and 60 miles per hour, and that includes three mountain passes. I'm really happy with it, because the car gets about 20 mpg, so it sits in the driveway a lot!

I took my new Royal Enfield Electra with the Cozy Rocket out for a charity ride spin with the "Big Boys" a couple Saturdays ago. I got all smirks and smiles when I pulled up to the group of about 50 cycles waiting to catch the Cherry Branch Ferry. That is until I opened the ball with "I get 64 MPG". I made friends real fast!!!
