Hello folks,

Maybe you like to read something about sidecars made in the Netherlands ( yes,the country where we all walk on wooden shoes !).
We still have some sidecarproducers which sell all over the world like EZS or EML ( yes, they are Dutch not German!).
There are also some marks which don,t exist anymore like Hollandia or Moturist.
The last mark was produced by a man called Ed Pols who had his shop in the city of Amsterdam (yes, tulips and other things!).
Ed Pols, Who died a few years ago was in the seventies and eighties the sidecar guru of the Netherlands.
He also build a sidecar which could be used as a boat and a kind of sidecarcamper.
It was always nice to be in his shop, he was a real sidecarist.
More about him can you read at www.geocities.com/moturist/ed/html or www.geocities.com/moturist/intro_nl.html (Those sites are also in english).
There are also newcombers at the dutch market.
One of them is Tripteq, look at www.tripteq.com
I also builded my own sidecars as a hobby, are there people in the states who build there own sidecars?, show me the pictures!!!

Greetings from The Netherlands, famous for there wooden shoes, tulips, mills and Sidecars!!!

Ingmar

Hi Ingmar:
My wife and I raised Freisian horses here in the states. From Freisland in holland. Beautiful horses but very expensive to import. Sidecars are less troublesum.

Hi Ingmar,

I live in Australia, where they did import the Le Mans II.

They imported the CX100 into the US. It looked just like the Le Mans II but it had the small valve 949cc motor instead of the big valve 850. I think they had to do that because of US emission laws

Not much snow here in Oz (except in the "mountains") so no problems there. We also have an 850T and my daughter rides a Monza. But the sidecar is on a BMW K100.

Cheers,

Steven

Hi ,Ghostflames 2002

I see those horses often because I live in west-friesland ( witch isn,t part of the province of Friesland but is situated at the other side of the inner lake in the Netherlands ).
More problems than sidecars? I think those horses belong to the strongest in the world.
Some farmers over here still use them to plow their fields as hobby.
Expensive? I saw an adverb for a friesian horse for 5000 euro witch is about 4000 dollar?.
A good secondhand sidecar will cost you about 6000 dollar overhere.
But you,re right its a beautiful powerfull horse.

Greetings,

Ingmar

Hi, Steven,

Must have lots of space over there in Australia to ride a sidecar.
The man I was talking about (Ed Pols) was also the great Guzzi specialist in the seventies an eighties here in holland.
My Guzzi,s were an V7 special and an 850 T3 ( which is for me one of the most beautiful guzzi ever made ).
Are there sidecar manufacturers in Australia?

Greetings,

Ingmar

Ingmar,

The 850T like my wife rides is the bike the T3 was based on. And it is actually the most beautiful Guzzi ever made! 🙂

There aren't as many sidecar manufactorers here in Oz as there used to be. Sidecars are not as popular as they once were. But there are a few:

Premier: http://www.premiersidecars.com.au

Dusting: http://www.dropbears.com/d/dusting

Westcar http://www.sidecars.fanspace.com

That's about it really.Cheers,Steven

Hi Steven,

You have an BMW 80/7?
The best BMW I ever had.
For years it has been the number one policebike overhere, The 55HP version I think, there also has been a 50HP version.
It rode smoother than the more powerfull 100/7, I think the 90S is the best BMW ever made.
I had an 80/7 witch I rode for about 200.000km , we got married on this bike.
Those were the years we only had an motorcycle for transportation, I rode through snow and ice in the winters 110 km to work but it always brought me where I had to be.
Nowadays I ride an Yamaha XS650 from `79 ( my first love ) and my wife rides an Suzuki GS450 ( just for fun, we have a car since years ).
At this moment I haven,t got a sidecar but I,am going to design and build one for my XS650.
I already build and designed one ( a two seater ), there is an photo of it in the photoalbum under my name at this site.
My daughters aren,t old enough yet to ride but I think the youngest one certainly will wen she becomes eightien.
My oldest daughter wants to be an park ranger in Australia ( to much Skippy the bushkangaroo on the dutch television ).

Greetings,

Ingmar
