Dogs in the chair
Hey y'all! I know this has probably been discussed before but if it has I didn't pay much attention since I didn't have a dog. All that's changed now. My new animal companion is a twenty pound ball of energy named "Lucy." She's either a wireharied or a Jack Russel Terrier. I'm going to want to take her along but I need to know how you dog folks out there secure your furry friends in the chair. Harnesses, seat belts, etc..? Other safety gear? I'm ordering her a set of "Doggles" but are there dog helmets or other such devices? Silly questions perhaps but as I said I'm new to the dog in the hack thing and I want my pal to be as safe and comfortable as possible.
Thanks, gang! Have a good day.

I am planning to do the same once my bike & new sidecar are joined (just got the hack to the shop today!!!) I did a search on this site (clicked 'search' button above, typed 'dogs' and checked 'no limit' on date) and got a long list, you might try that.
Also found a good thread on the Adventure Rider Hack section with lots of photos and good tips: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=422637
Keep us posted- I hope to have my rig this weekend and hoping Daytona Bike Week mods don't take precedent over my install!!! I want to get my pups used to the thing well in advance of actually taking them out! The doggles seem to be a challenge already 😉 I have to keep giving them bits of treats to prevent them from struggling to take them off!
Hey guys, check out the FAQ forum, yes we have discussed this before.

Take your time with the Doggles. It took my little guy many hours to get used to them. Give him lots of treats and pets and attaboys. One thing you might try is the Doggles with interchangable lens. Put the clear lens in initially and it won't freak him out by making everything dark. If you think they don't need the Doggles, try riding yourself without eye protection... you won't like it.

Another must is a harness. Don't use a collar. I use an adjustable double ended lead (used for walking two dogs) with a clip at both ends. The clips are attached to the seat frame and the center ring is attached to the ring of the harness with a double sided clip. That way he can't go too far out either side of the chair.
Now if I could just get him to wave.
