Cozy for Piaggio MP3
Greetings to all -
I am interested in purchasing a Cozy sidecar ( or another type ) for my wife's Piaggio MP3.
So far, I have found one or two possible sidecar vendors, Cyclesidecar and Scooterworks.
The Cozy is affordable, and is intended to stabilize her scooter while providing extra storage.
I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks,
Eric
I don't know how the MP3 works, but it already has 3 wheels. Isn't it pretty stable already? Also, I'm not sure how a SC would fit on there in relation to the front wheel width like that.
Unit Sparrow, Steib LS200 -or the Indian copy, the Globe- and the Cozy all seem to be the right size...
I think the best advice would be from Scooterworks or a Piaggio dealer.
I am in the process of trying to identify a scooter rig for my wife, who is very petite and has some medical issues.I was considering the MP3, but finally concluded that the additional stability is really only when stops (and the front end "locks"). Plus, they are pricey, if the intention is to add a sidecar (at least that's my logic at this point) However, your question was re: the Cozy.I have not been able to find any real alternatives )other than the Cozy) currently available in that size, which is what I want. Connie would not use it to carry people, only our Maltese, and maybe the groceries. Plus, the Cozy (Rocket) is really cool looking.I just can't get excited about the other small SCs. Keep in mind I am thinking a scooter with 150cc, not one of the bigger ones. The only non current altenative I have so far is based on a conversation with Doug Bingham http://sidestrider.com/. Doug indicated he is working on a "sidecar" solution for scooters. Rather than speak out of school, or mis-quote Doug, You might want to call him direct. he has been aroung sidecars forever, and is a great guy to talk to.Good luck, and keep us posted.
just put a euro cozy on my sportster, tight quarters for my husband,
great for dog and kids. when driving alone have ballister wt
only problem is te pull to rt but i will have great tone!
maybe too much wt?
dont know anything re scooters, try calling classic motor works (cyclesidecar, com) they are pretty helpful answering questions
also rhis site is very helpful
We bought the MP3 because it provides additional stability for my wife who has health problems - and it does balance better because of the 2 front tires, and it steers differently (similar to understeer). The front end locks in a vertical position, but that has not been very useful for her.
I spoke with our Piaggio dealer last week - he didn't have any ideas. So, I'll pursue a sidecar solution until it becomes too pricey, then I'll solve the problem by putting a sidecar on our other scooter, the Yamaha Majesty.
Thanks for all of your suggestions.
Eric
The Duna was a light sidecar often found on the 350cc Pannonia. Hard to find because it's from Eastern Europe, but very good looking IMO.
The Globe was a copy of the Steib LS200. A Globe can be found occasionally, the LS200 is sold by a couple of dealers, but is kind of pricey.
The Unit Sidecar Compnay in England has a diminutive boat-tail called the Sprite that is stunning. I have no idea how much it might be, though.
I see Vespas with small sidecars from India a lot. You might ask one of those folks where to get a SC, or perhaps they'd sell just the SC seperately.
