I have just looked into the accident where Christian Neuhauser was killed.
I wasn't aware of this until recently. Christian died when his Ural rig crossed two lanes and collided with a truck.
His wife doesn't even want to talk about it. According to her, she asked for an article from sidecar "experts" but none replied.
As a newbe, I like to read all the info that I can on sidecar safety. Does anyone know what happened in this accident?

Living here in Indiana there are no sidecar classes offered. I am proceeding very cautiously and I'm well aware of the completely different handling characteristics of a rig. I've read Hough's sidecar book and Hal Kendalls observations but I'm going to try to recruit an experienced local sidecarist to give me some hints, etc. I'm 79 and I've ridden many years on two wheels but I'm also well aware of my novice status as I only have about 200 cautious miles under my belt and haven't flown the car yet.

Any thoughts or observations from the experienced on this forum?

Wayne

There was some extensive discussion over on the Ural web board back when the accident happened. Not sure if you could still access that thread over there or not...

Not much info...
Assuming he had a fair amount of SC experience, my guess would be a stroke or heart attack.
If he had little experience, I'd guess he was going left to merge and over-compensated going right again, putting the car in the air and keeping him moving left.
Just a guess

If I recall correctly from the discussion at the time I think he didn't have much three wheel experience and the latter of your deductions was the case. I used to spend a lot of time on the Ural web board and had many friends there. Hung out there even after selling the Ural but finally broke the habit and hang out here instead now...

WayneWe provide Sidecar Safety driving instruction in Louisville. The instructors are certified by Evergreen Safety Foundation. Currently we have scheduled couses for April 14-15, July 21-22, and September 22-23. We have training rigs for those who do not own a a sidecar outfit or who prefer to use the training rigs on the course. We recommend you bring your own rig to train on however. If you are interested in more information, drop me a note.Tub
