this is a great mystery! i have been trying to find out the same thing since i joined this forum but all i get is doublespeak. the only thing close that i've made any sense of is the twin 125's offered by jay. i am going to install $39.95 chin shengs on my motorcycle and car since tires wear so fast on sidecar rigs. cheaper by the dozen and their 130 mph rated too!btw-i run 30/90-16 too. hd/hd rig

I also run the Twin Tire from Dauntless on the front and rear of my rig. Problem is that the stock of these is almost depleted.

I hope another option is found soon.

The best way to find out what will work is trial and error. I've found most of my replacement tires for the hack in the used tire heaps. A good percentage of the info that I've gotten over the years has been tainted with liability inuendos. You certainly can't blame a person for covering their ass or their company's reputation expecially in our time of sueing for compensation from our own stupidity. I do not have to worry about this because I'm out there on the front lines like most of you.
One thing you might want to keep in mind is the sidewall strength. Car tires aren't usually as thick in this area so the support is minimal in turns and or potholes. If the lip of the tire doesn't mate well with the rim it could pop off, even while trying to air it up. I had a Cheng blow off the rim this past July in Ky while I was airing it up. Brand new tire! Broke the metal inside of the lip of the tire. I was not wearing safety glasses and must have blinked when it went cause my face was covered with tire soap! Crazy shit!
A list of what people have used successfully as far as rim and tire mates would be cool to see posted. Maybe a thread that everyone can list there info.
I have a Spirit of America chair with a 3.0x16 laced rim. I've run the front skins on stock Buell blasts with success, and knobby tires are okay if you don't have fender clearance issues. With a small rim like that I don't think I'd try to fit a car tire on it, but I'm presently building another sidecar for one of my other bikes and I will be using an original Harley star hub(16").
