Calling SCT100
Flip, I believe I know you from a couple of other forums. Your avatar seems to be a photo of your 03 T100 and Spyder hack (my old eyes are tired). Since the Spyder is on my short list, may I impose and ask you if a larger photo is available? I would really like to see how you had the Spyder painted.
Thanks,
Carl,
Welcome to the world of sidecars. I am a bit south of you in Largo, FL. I am also your state rep so if I can be of help let me know. From the home page here click on βthe mapβ then Fla and my contact info is there.
Oh ST100 has pictures posted here on this site. Click on the link below and it will take you there. I hope lol.

Ah, VERY nice! What a beautiful rig! Thanks for the link to the photos.
I will probably be contacting you as I get more into this and order the side car. I'm sure I will have a million questions.
Carl:I sent some pictures of the outfit to GrandPaul and the other guy over on the NTBF Forum with my express wishes that they would not post them on their start page or anywhere else. The outfit was finished last spring and it's a nice ride as well as a looker. If you remember, Tom has one too but not with all the stuff that I have on mine.
You can contact me anytime you wish. I'll help you anyway I can, but it would be helpful if you joined the USCA. There is a gob of knowledge in the group in general.
I spend most of my time on my R3 with the Bonnie/Spyder being built for shows and tooling around on Sunday.
Richard McClure is your State Rep. He isn't into Triumphs like we are, but then, everyone has their faults, admitted and otherwise.
You'll find my full mailing address on the front inside cover of the Sidecarist and Ms. Joyce Canfield, our USCA president has my phone number. A PM to her will obtain it, I'm sure.
Some day maybe Flip. I did have and ride one a long time ago.
Thank you very much, Flip. I definitely plan on joining USCA this week (pay day is Thursday!). I appreciate the offer of guidance and I will contact you. I had narrowed my quest down to the Spyder and one other make. SWMBO likes the Spyder - especially after seeing the photos in your album. Hers will be a daily rider. Heck, even my '68 TR6 Trophy that GP restored is a rider. I will show it; but it is my favorite ride - for short trips, anyway.
Your rig is drop dead gorgeous. Did Motorvation do the paint job? I like the head light and the turn signal that you installed and I like the looks of that sport wind screen.
I have never seen Tom's rig. He doesn't have it attached at the NTBF rally at Deals Gap - for obvious reasons! LOL He had it a Brits in the Blue Ridge; but I had to skip that rally last year to travel to Texas to pick up my TR6 from GP. I knew Tom had the rig and I have been in touch with him. It was he who steered me to Motorvation.
Again, thank you for your assistance. Maybe we can get Richard to rejoin the Triumph fold! We'll work on him. π

Carl:
Tom's is painted the same color as his Bonnie with an arrow on the side. I have absolutely nothing against Tom, but I like the 2 tone T100 paint, especially the blue and white so I had Motorvation paint the sidecar to match, however, I supplied the side panel design and requested the solid stripe down the center. Motorvation would have pinstriped the tub with tape, but that's a no-no so I hand pinstriped the tub myself with an honest to goodness stripers brush and One Shot enamel. I spent 3 months practicing before I ever laid the brush on the tub.
I wanted true split brakes and Motorvation's brake design left a lot to be desired so I machined my own from a block of 6016-T4 aluminum and mounted their pedal/arm/master cylinder assembly to the lower rear brace. I added needle bearing pivots for an effortless actuation. I also machined a compound adjuster for the actuator shaft that reduces the travel of the actuator arm to mimic the travel of the T100's brake pedal. I wanted both brakes to operate in harmony with equal travel. The turnsignal is stock T100 mounted on a compound milled Delrin round, ecentrically drilled. I had to lengthen the threaded portion of the turnsignal stalk to compensate for the thickness of the fiberglass and the milled Delrin round. I accomplished that by taking a metric bolt, through drilling the shank and parting the head off. I then machined a coupling to join the stock turn signal to the new extension. The extra turn signal is courtesy of Mike Sellman from Belacorse.com, a frequent riding partner. The windscreen is stock Motorvation Brooklands and the tail light is and old school reproduction from DK. The headlight is stock from Motorvation with the addition of an H4 halogen insert to replace the supplied sealed beam.
Tom's outfit is different in the mounts from mine as Tom wanted to dismount his and ride solo whereas mine stay's married all the time. My solo bike is the R3. That makes my mounts all threaded and it's a chore to dismount the sidecar even though I have the dolly supplied from Motorvation. One thing you need to be aware of and that is Motorvation only supplies the fender with a tail light recess (takes an HD tombstone) and I wasn't aware of that until I took delivery of the sidecar. I had to have the fender glassed and returned to Motorvation to be repainted because I certainly didn't want an HD tail light on a Brit bike. You also need to be aware that Triumph's are painted with British Standox Enamels and while Standox is owned by DuPont, it's very prudent to do a spectroscopic analysis (which I did) on the tank or fender and then derive the formulary from that. DuPont will be more happy to do the analysis and provide the formulary. All you need to do is contact a DuPont jobber in your area. Of course, none of that is necessary if it'a a custom paint job. Mine wasn't. My paramount goal was for everything
I finally woke up. I haven't been on here lately and first I want to apologise to SCT100 for not replying to his emails. At least I don't think that I did. I had not noticed that there was a message line.
I too, have a Motorvatiom Spyder mounted to my Valkyrie. My son and I installed it. We've never done that and it was an education. There were some hickups and I had a number of conversations wuth Mary and Gary but things worked out. The paint was by Motorvation, looked great, and the pinstriping was done locally by a truck detailer who specializes in murals, etc.
The pic is on my avatar and also in Photo album after the sidecar pin striping. The only thing left to do is widen the tread width a little and chekc all fittings and adjustments.

Wayne:
You are excused. It is getting warmer, albiet slowly and soon I'll be heading out your way. You better be ready to ride somewhere besides the local greasy spoon. Maybe I should put the outfit on a trailer and pull the whole thing behind the R3.
I never met Mary or her crew. Everything was done by phone and fax, read; many phone conversations and faxes. Someday, I'm going to head out to Sibley and visit. I surmise that Mary and her sidekicks are very interesting folks.
Thank you for all of the information. I knew about most of you mods to the T100. I agree with you about the beauty of the two tone paint of the T100's and especially the blue.
I plan to draw out a two stripe paint scheme like the tank is painted to see how it would look. I would converge the stripes closet together at the front and rear of the car similarly to the rear of the tank. I'll sketch it and see how it looks. I have not decides how I want the side panels. I may opt for a scallop similar to the 66 Trophy TR6R tank for the panels.
I knew about the Standox paint. Mary, at Motorvation, told me about doing the spectroscopic analysis; she said her painter insists on it.
I really appreciate the information on the rear taillight. I do not want an HD tail light either. I will have the indentation glassed before the fender is painted. That is a very good tip. I might see if one of Mike Selman's reproduction Lucas tail lights will work. It depends of the curve of the fender. Mae Lyne' T100 already has a Lucas repro tail light. I do like the light the you chose. I am not familiar with DK.
Her bike has Triumph TOR's, (I have the Bella Corse Teardrops on mine), an 18 tooth primary sprocket, and the snorkel is gone. The carbs are jetted to 115's and I removed the air induction. Thus, her's is not far from stock.
I also appreciate the tip about the tape pin stripping. That is a no-no on a Brit bike. I'll have the pin striping done locally. Years ago, I did the pin striping on a '31 Ford I restored. My hands are quite as steady as they were 45 years ago! π
The is a great brake setup you have done. I have neither the tools, shop, nor skills to engineer such. A big tip of the hat to you. That is awesome.
Like Tom, I want to able to dismount Mae Lyne's fairly easily. So I will probably use a setup like Tom's. I am excited about moving forward with this project in the next month or two. And Mae Lyne looking forward to riding by herself again.
I don't go the NTBF or BIR forums much anymore. Between work, riding and patriot Guard Rider missions, I don't have lot of computer time. I will defenitely be in touch with you. Thank you again for your valuable input.
Carl:
You have a private message.
The Bellacorse Lucas light won't fit the radial contour of the fender. Mike and I took literally a box of tail lights and propped them all up on the fender for an eyeball and nothing he had appealed to me or to him for than matter, hence, I left the tub tail lightless for sometime until I found the tail light I have mounted. When I messaged you privately I couldn't for the life of me, remember what the name of the tail light was but it came to me this morning. It's called a 'Sparto' tail light and it's available in either chrome or black. DK has 'em in chrome but if you Google 'Sparto', you find others avasilable along with the black counterpart.
It will be a fun project.
Thanks, Flip, for the great information. I got your PM and saved it in Word for future reference and printing. I greatly appreciate your help and advice and I will be in touch.
