I installed one of my Sweet SL-220 sidecars on a Buell earlier this year. It turned out great and I enjoyed driving it before I had to turn it over to the new owner.

We have looked at doing the Ulysses but have not done one. Your bike while possible does not really lend its self to adding a sidecar all that easy. As such it more expensive then most any other bike to do. In the long run you would be better off changing to a different bike. Dual sport sidecars are a lot of fun. We have done about 1000 so far, mostly BMW bikes. If you wanted to stop by we are located about 450 miles north of you just south of Seattle and at any given time have at least 4 dual sport sidecars rigs either done our nearing completion. This in addition to many none dual sport sidecar rigs in the works. We build 11 different models of sidecars in house.

Thanks for the kind words Pat. I have been pleasantly surprised at the response that my Sweet SL-220 sidecar has been getting even after all these years. I started building the original SL model sidecars over forty years ago and today in this modern world they have been well received. We drive our sidecar just about every day and when ever we stop there is always a crowd that gathers. When I mention that the design is over forty years old many have said that "I was ahead of my time". My response it that "the SL-220 is what's called a timeless design". This year we have installed the SL-220 on many of the newer bikes and even a 2014 Honda CTX 700. It's been over twenty five years since I was out on the road driving sidecars and when I brought out the old SL-220 right from the get go it's been a big hit. People that will never own or even ride in a sidecar have asked if they could take a picture of the little Red rocket. We even had Vista print make up 200 post cards and withing two months they were all gone. The response has been almost the same as when some people collect baseball cards. What they do with the post cars is a mystery to me but a few of my younger friends that still work have them framed and sitting on their desk at work; go figure.

Well good luck with your Buell project and thanks again for the kind words.

Pat, I had an '06 Lightning Long that I wanted to convert as well, but after just a little research, decided it would probably be a bad idea. I highly doubt the XB frame can withstand the stress, being a large hollow block of aluminum. A simple lowside has been known to total a frame... can you imagine trying to rigid mount a framework to it?
