Artical in March/April Sidecarist
Just got the latest issue in the mail,
Noticed there is no letters to the editor page. So I posted here.
Read Larry Wright's "Engadine Adventure", sorry Larry Ya Hozer, but I was doing a lot of laughing at your situation.
I am a Displaced Yooper, having grown up by Ironwood & Hurley, and can understand everything in your story,
By the time you left, I am surprised that you were not invited to come back for Aunt Limpi's Birthday get together !!! LOL
All I can Say about the UP is, There is a lot of nothing but tall timber, loon swaps, lots of lakes that you need a genuine Indian Guide to get to,
And NO GOOD PAYING JOBS!! So everyone is in the same boat, a 1/4 tank short of broke, trying to eek out a living in some of the most unihabital
weather (We are hoping summer lands on a weekend this year so more of us get to enjoy it), and is so, everyone helps everyone, ie. He's coming back from
that way and will bring your tube with him.
And my advice for the Brave of Heart to venture in the North Woods..... Pack a day lunch, have drinking water, clothes for an "Overnighter", be BEAR SMART,
and ALWAYS TANK UP at every opportunity (Especially on a bike) as it's a long ride to ANYWHERE !!
