Novice S/TEP classes for the 2011 season will be available through Hood River Community Education on the following dates: May 13, 14 & 15, June 17, 18 & 19, September 30, October 1 & 2. Sidecars are provided at no extra charge or you may use your own.
We have advanced sidecar classes available with our mini tours Aug 5, 6 & 7, 2011 and September 16, 17 & 18, 2011 and as the first part of our Tipi TourAugust 19-26, 2011. Sidecars are available to rent for the Mini Tours and Tipi Tour, or you may use your own rig.
Our last Novice S/TEP class for the season is weekend of October 14-16. We still have a few openings for this class. Cost is $265. An additional $100 will get you a berth in the tipi Friday and Saturday night. The Novice S/TEP Class is perfect for the complete beginner or as a brush-up for the sidecar pilot with experience who wants some formal training driving a sidecar. The techniques apply equally well to riding a trike.
Classes start at 5:30 pm on Friday and run through Sunday afternoon, usually finishing around 3:30pm
Prior motorcycle experience is not needed for the novice class. We will cover basic motorcycle operation as part of the class. You must be at least 16 years old and have a valid driver's license to take the class. If you are under 18 years old you must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. Each class is limited to 12 students for safety and quality reasons.
You may take the class using your sidecar or trike or one of ours. If you choose to use your own rig for the class, you must have proof of insurance and the machine must be in a safe operating condition.
Be aware the driving exercises will be conducted on a grass lot.
Because of insurance requirements, this course of instruction requires pre-registration and prepayment.
