Texas Sidecar Muster October 7-9, 2022

The Fall 2022 Texas Sidecar Muster, hosted by the La-Tex contingent of the United Sidecar Association and the TURD's, is scheduled for October 7-9 at Crockett Family Resort on Houston County Lake located at 75 Dogwood Lane West,  Crockett, Texas, ±9 road miles Northwest of Crockett (as measured from Loop 304) or ±16½ road miles Southwest of downtown Grapeland.  The facility has a couple of dozen cabins and lots of shady RV and tent spots.  There is also a small store with a few supplies and a little cafe' area with pizza and wings.  General info can be found here:  https://www.crockettresort.com/ and pics here: https://www.crockettresort.com/scenic-gallery  Houston County Lake appears to be a great place to fish and kayak.  Non-Ethanol fuel is available at store.

Pets are permitted in the lodging, and there is a fenced dog park to let the dogs off leash.

Preliminary plans include a Saturday morning ride to the Caddo Mounds state historic site 40 road miles to the East [ https://www.thc.texas.gov/historic-sites/caddo-mounds-state-historic-site ], which is rebuilding after being damaged by a tornado 3 years ago.

Avanell and I will be there. It's a pretty nice place. About 10 miles from our house.

The 1st post above has been updated with pic of the Flyer with a proposed schedule, which is also attached as a .pdf for printing.

It is also added to the "Sidecar Events" tab on the main menu of the website.

"I ride because it frees my mind from the tyranny of petty things."

Our "meal plans" are taking shape.  :hungry:

Friday evening us Louisiana folks are planning pulled pork with Barbara's special sauce along with 'tater salad and beans.

Saturday evening the Texas folks are planning taco salad and fixin's.

Extras, such as cookies or desserts are always welcome.  :boogie:

The First Methodist Church of Grapeland has graciously offered to host a breakfast for us at 8:30 am on Saturday, October 8th, upon a donation basis.   If you have not already done so, please let Kent or I know you plan to come so we  can provide the church a reasonably accurate head count a couple weeks in advance.

We will depart from Crockett Family Resort by 8:00am to ride the 18 miles to breakfast in Grapeland.  Let's plan to take a group photo  in front of the church building before we depart for the Caddo Mounds.

The church is operating on donations only. Be free with your gifts. If they charged a  fee, they had to pay a bunch of taxes. No tax on donations. They will be ready to serve at 8;45.

The forecast for the upcoming weekend is great, with ±60° in the morning and high 80°'s in the afternoon, but, with no rain the past few weeks, it is very dry in our region, and there is a Burn Ban in effect for Houston County.

Unfortunately Aurora and I will not be able to attend. We had reserved cabin E and it is now available. If anyone needs a place to stay, please contact the resort.

Sorry y'all can't make it George.
