At the bottom and to the left of each page where a post [or a number of posts] is/are displayed there is a small blue envelope icon and the words, "Subscribe to this topic".  If you click that button you should get notices when the topic is updated. At least that's what's supposed to happen [and it does for me]
You can also subscribe from the composition window, where you write your posts or reply to posts as I am doing now. The tick box for that is right above the big red "Cancel" button, don't click the Cancel button but rather the box above it next to the words "Subscribe to this topic".
