Short trip - great ride

With things around here cancelled due to the temps and dry conditions we decide to try this rally, http://www.springriverrally.com in Hardy Arkansas!

9 north out of Mountain View is a great riding road, lots of twistys and sweepers and climbs from the White river vally! From the Sylamore bridge it is up and twisty all he way to Melourne! Just a little north of there you catch 56 east! 9 continues north to Mammoth Springs and Missiouri, it is a great ride all by it's self! We caught 56 east to Hardy and the rally!

They have a great venue in a greaat location and Hardy has a great old town/down town!

Now the down side... $30 for the day with less than 60 bikes anywhere around! They only had one group selling food and bottled drinks! The temps climbed quickly!

We decided to check out the town and the area, meet several bikers in town who were also disappointed and had come to town for something to eat and air conditioning. The bank sign climbed to 107! We checked out the area and hid until 5pm then returned to the event field! There were no additional bikes/people and even the bands had stopped playing! Decided to brave the heat after a frappe at McD's and head home!

Decide to take this path home, 56 into Calico rock then 5 south to Mountain View! Great rode with less twisty's but still a pretty ride and less work in the heat!

Check the time distance... they are close but 9 is much more technical with lots of twisty's and some great views at the top!

I really hope things get better at the rally!!! Maybe Friday/Saturday will help and the temps were just to high! Saturday might be a good day!

Why didn't the maps embed with a "picture" and a link???

Having the rally in the middle of the week is tough for many folks, but not as much as the 107*F. And it's difficult to stay late when you have to be back at work the next day.

And, yes, Hwy 9 over to Mebourne is great. I recall eating breakfast at a diner there 10+ years ago.

Thanks for posting. 🙂

P.S. I fiddled with the map links but no luck either. 🙁

Spoke with a vendor today, he is still at this rally. Said there are more vendors than bikers still today! Hope it picks up for them!!
