Oregon Grand Tour First Check Point

Rode the 09 Triumph T100 w/Velorex from Portland to Sweet Home, OR. Total milage just under 200 miles 'round trip. Rode the back roads with lots of twisties and had a ball. This is the rig that Lonnie Cook rigged for me last June. Still tracks absolutely straight. What a fabulous job he did (Thanks, Lonnie). Thrilled with the ride, had a great chile burger at the checkpoint restaurant, and got 41.1 mpg riding like a wild man (at least as wild as any 70 year old should get!). All in all a great day. Sorry about no pictures, but I was having so much fun I completely forgot. 🙁

If it took you 200 miles to go from Portland to Sweet Home, you certainly took the scenic route.
Pretty country but it can be wet this time of year. I stopped in a private campground along the Santiam not far from there about 7 years ago
and rented a cabin for 25 dollars a night.

Had great weather. High for the day was 79 degrees F. Took two lane highways all the way with the exception of 13 miles from Lebanon, OR to Sweet Home. Definitely a good day.
