The Ark-La-Tex area 2021 fall sidecar gathering is scheduled for October 8-10 at Lake Murvaul Park and Marina located ±12 road miles Southwest of Carthage in Panola, County, Texas. It’s an unassuming facility, but it has a dozen cabins and dozen+½ overnight RV spots, and tent spots across the road from the RV area. There is also a basic café/store on site with lakeside patio dining. General info & pics here: https://www.lakemurvaul.us/ ... appears to be a great place to fish and kayak.
Alternative lodging options include several motels on the Southeast Loop in Carthage and perhaps a couple of "airbnb" cabins on Lake Murvaul.
Gas is ±5 miles at either North at the Clayton General Store or Southeast at Gary City. Both Clayton & Gary City have Dollar General stores. In addition to the onsite cafe', ‘bout a mile away is café called the “Feed Trough” (yup, eaten there several times)sorry, the Feed Trough is now closed and for sale, due to health reasons & Chuck's Country Smoke House BBQ.
We'll post up more info re: rides and schedule as thing develop. Interesting sites in the area include the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame, the gravesite of Jim Reeves and the Footprints in the Sand monument.
It seems all county roads in Panola County are oil-top, but there are some gravel roads south in Shelby County, where we could potentially take a day ride to Tennessee.
Preliminary Schedule:
Friday October 8th:
10:30 Lunch ride departing the Marina (±80 mile round trip with lunch at ±45 miles & fuel at ±60 miles)
12:00 Lunch at Alexander Burger Company in Cushing, Texas (you're also welcome to meet-up there)
Working on a potential afternoon side trip. Should return to the Marina by 3:00 or 4:00
Friday evening supper own your own.
Saturday, October 9th:
9:45 Group ride 15 miles to Texas Country Music Hall of Fame ($10 Admission per person)
Lunch on your own.
3:30 Jousting Tournament Jousting will be unavailable, maybe some other games
6:30 Dinner on the grounds

Re: the Lunch Ride/Meet-Up on Friday, October 8th:
Jena and I will plan to arrive at the Marina by 10am on Friday, then depart 10:30 to ride ±45 miles of FM & county roads arriving at the Alexander Burger Company** in Cushing, Texas, about Noontime. If you are traveling to the rally on Friday and it's convenient on your travels, simply plan to meet-up in Cushing at Noontime.
** The Alexander Burger Company is a food truck trailer with covered seating for ±30 patrons, so we'll need to patient at lunchtime.
After lunch we'll plan to ride ±15 miles via county roads to Mt. Enterprise for a fuel stop, then another ±26 miles back to the Marina. My idea for an educational field-trip after the fuel stop didn't work out, but we can have an option to split into two groups if any of us would like to make a side trip to "Tennessee" involving a couple stretches of unpaved roads (±42 miles total with ±8 miles unpaved).

The weather was warmer than expected but the rains stayed away. The Fall Texas-Louisiana sidecar gathering was a great time for those who made it. Was our first time to try Lake Murvual near Carthage, Texas for the meet up.
Here is a random gathering of photos from the event. A group ride to the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in Carthage was organized for Saturday morning.
For some, the Hall of Fame was a walk down memory lane...
Thanks to Lee, Jena, Kent and all who made this a great weekend.
