I will take some pictures of my set up tonight and post them, I found the trick is to have your secure point in the middle of the car in front of the seat. I have a piece I use that has a double D ring like on the helmets that I put the dogs leash on, this way I can adjust it to shorten or lengthen their lead. My thoughts are the more they get used to riding the more lead they get. Fritz for example likes to actually hang his head out of the side a lot when riding but I wouldn't trust our newest rider to do that just yet so they each get different leads

don't mind the dirty floor, this is how I have my tie down set up. I can tie out up to 3 dogs at a time. I'll be riding  2 at the rally and Monica will have the other one in the carrier on her trike

Got here late yesterday , was able to get out today and look around some. Campgroud is very nice and the weather is beautiful. The lodge is beautiful and sits right on the water  Looking forward to seeing everyone soon. I think we have the best site in the park, it’s the last site before the lodge so we can see everyone as they come through to sign in 

also just found out they do fireworks every Saturday night over the lake

For those thinking about coming to the rally and worried about camping, we were told the state of Iowa requires each state park to set aside 10% of the camp site for walk-ins. We were handed the map showing where those set-aside sites are. Come into the park, look for a sidecarist, ask where Rob is, he has the map and all the details.

Yes, we have the exclusive use of the lakeside lodge for our use, meetings, rally information, ride maps, prizes and the Saturday night dinner. Weather was high 84 today, low humidity, very nice, night in the mid-sixties, light breeze. lots of trees and shade here.
The deer come out to feed among the campsites.

Only sticking point with the park rangers is NO PARKING ON THE ROADWAYS, pull off onto the grass to park. Other than that , everything is looking great here.

Already a couple dozen people have arrived. Looks like we'll have 150-160 total, with over a 100 sorted rigs to look at and copy ideas from.

Oh, there is NO day use fee to come in to the park. But watch for the sign showing where to turn off of Rt 86, sign is small, brown and fades into the background if you are not paying attention.

Come one, come all, your fellow sidecarists await. Rally schedule, ride maps, etc. will be in the attendees packet at check in.

The 2023 USCA Rally is a wrap. Many, many thanks to Don Banwart the rally master, to all who volunteered to help... Miles with fat-free donuts holes and glazed dount washers every morning, David and Christy for organizing DQ or A&W ice cream runs, what was it two, three or four runs,  plus they led the "Cruising with Classic cars"event, Vern who helped with checking people in and leading rides, Rob who helped secure campsites for attendees without reservations, to those who created a ride, an event or an activity. It's the "Let's do it" attitude of our members, not waiting for someone to tell them what to do every minute,  is what make the USCA rallies special.  We start the rally with a schedule, but it is not set in stone. Weather, opportunities, interests dictate the direction activities will flow. One never knows what positives might happen at a USCA, but they seem to always happen. It's the little details of a rally that make them memorable.

Thought the camaraderie level was higher than normal this year, or was it the beautiful weather we had. Yes,there was a the flash rain early Saturday morning, but even that washed away the weatherman's forecast of rain all day. Sat afternoon was clear and sunny again. Ground was too soaked for games, but other activities filled the day.

We had 140 pre-registered for the rally, another dozen or two walk-ins.  Several day visitors and numerous persons who wanted to see all the sidecars gathered at the lodge.

All in all, a great rally. Thank you to everyone for making it great.

I echo the comments of CCjon regarding the volunteers who would see something which needed to be done and would do it.  I don't know all the spontaneous rides and tasks that were initiated by persons who saw a need or opportunity for doing something for the good of the rally.

Thanks to Will, Joan, Harold and Doris Short and another person I didn't know, we swept and wet-mopped the whole Lodge before noon on Sunday.

As our El Presidente' has previously stated, the camaraderie was in high gear this year, and we all had a blast.

I thank you all...(from the guy that rode the farthest distance to the rally, and da bums couldn't even give me a small plaque. I told them, I have 99 Long Distance awards on my wall at home...just needed ONE more...dang it) (and.....all those donuts, and HOLES.....how did we eat so many donut HOLES ????)

Flying Monkeys... Next year.... Next year the rally will be in the Southeasy, EVEN further for you, more miles to properly win the long distance to ride to the rally award... unless Brian rides in from BC.
