Hauling an untattached Hack
Quote from Big Tom on August 26, 2016, 10:36 amOK, so I'm picking up a Champion Escort and I have to haul it home on the trailer. No Bike attached..
A bike is easy, but having never hauled a Hack can I get some hints on what I can expect?
Here's the trailer..
Sorry I guess I wasn't clear I'll be hauling the Side Car only. Not attached to a Motorcycle.

Quote from NCGLSidecarist on August 26, 2016, 7:05 pmI ty my rig with the bike wheel in a chock, and two ratchet straps one on each side of the front of the bike run from the triple tree. I then run one strap from the rear wheel of the bike to a tie down point across the trailer and one from a point on the sidecar to a tie down point on the opposite side of the trailer in a crisscross pattern. Sidecars have a tendency to "dance" across the trailer when being towed on a trailer. This has worked very well for me! Soft ties work well for attaching the ratchet straps. Just my 2 cents worth

You may have to shim up the car some so it sits level. You will need many tie downs to secure the car to the dolly. I have used these to move the dismounted car around the garage. They are not costly and and are handy for other applications.

I actually have one of these. Never thought of using it for this purpose because the caster wheels are so small.. Perhaps an upgrade to larger wheels is in order..
By the way thanks for the Tri-Folds..

Quote from trikebldr on September 4, 2016, 11:48 pmOK, I'm late to this discussion, but if you are still looking for ideas. here's how I carried mine from North Dakota to Kansas City. Very simple with cardboard under it and strapped down solidly. Of course, using the furniture dolly works quite well once you get it home and need to move it around, too! I fabricated a custom dolly for mine when it's not on the bike.
