Battery drain on a 2018 Goldwing

PreviousPage 2 of 2

So what was the outcome, did you get it figured out

USCA # 8913

I finally think I got it figured out. The battery seemed to be shorting out under heavy load. As you suggested, when it heated up 2 plates seemed to be shorting. I also contacted Hannigan and they sent me an updated wiring harness for the bike. This 2018 Goldwing was the first ever and some mods have been made since then. Much appreciated Hannigan’s willingness to work with me on this. I also converted all running lights to LEDs to lighten the load. So far all seems to be working.  Thanks again for all the suggestions and ideas. Hope to see you all at Nationals! Meantime, ride safe

NCGL, great to hear your charging issue is resolved.  Am curious on what Hannigan updated on their GoldWing wiring harness as I have a 2018 Wing DCT.

Will you be attending  Sidecars in the Smokies in May?

2018 wing, does it have keyless ignition? Do you keep the key near it when sitting. The bike is constantly reaching out to look for the key and will kill a battery faster than you think. My 2018 Beemer will kill the battery after only a week or two if I leave the key in the Tank bag. I usually have the tender on it. Once the AGM battery has been taken to a low state of charge it is real hard to get them back to 100 %  Takes a lot of patience and fussing to get them back. trying to recover the neighbours Harley Battery right now. Had to Jump start it with a 2nd battery to get any current out of my charger. 8.4 volts to start with so may not come back.
