06 Harley Ultra Rear Tire

12

Just curious what people suggest for a 06 ultra rear tire? My guy suggests an Avon safety mileage am7 for a rig on the rear ? I believe its Dunlop whitewalls on there now. Look cool but a pita to clean. I'm going to ditch the whitewall on the back but want a good higher mileage tire. Any suggestions?

For cycle tires the Dunlop Elite 3's last about as long as anything.

Thanks Lonnie, will it fit all three?

Yes.

I am trying a E3 on the back and have D402 on the hack and front. Can not get the small white wall in E3 unless I want to get them from Harley and pay at least twice the price. This is the best price I have found for tires. Free shipping over $100 and they ship FAST!

Thanks, I ordered an E3 the hack and front are the big whitewalls but I can't take a there with good tread off.

Where did you order it from? I do not care about a white wall on the back as you cannot see much of it and in my situation in the past couple of years I have to save every penny I can.

One thing I noticed today when I adjusted the belt and air the tires was the rear E3 seems to be cupping but that might have to do with a hack you never ride on the edges like you do on a solo bike. I have about 2,500 miles on the tire and you can tell it has ware on it.

long story but the bike is getting n engine rebuild including new cases from HD. the indy shop doing the work just ordered the tire while the bike is in peices. when it is all said and done i will have in 06 ultra with engine internals of a 2013 103". spendy repair after owning the bike 45 days. I had to sell my other CSM sidecar to pay for it. ill get another CSM before i am done or one of those transmoto retro sprotster bikes.

When I get up the founds which could be a couple of years but the motor now only has 92,000 on it I am going to build my motor to be a low to mid RPM torque monster with as good a gas mileage as I can get. I will be doing all the work my self as I have been working on Harley s as long as I have been riding them for the past 42 years. I have 3 motors right now I am building for customers.

You are getting a stock 103 HD motor? Just something to think about the stock 103 get really bad gas mileage but there are several things you can do to improve it a lot. The stock cams are made to please the EPA, then a good breather with some better slip on will help a lot. I recommend a torque cam which ill have short duration. Just something to think about.
Keep us posted.

Not sure of the number but it will be a woods cam. The builder worked with woods' and Bob Wood was there this weekend giving input on what components to use. The plan is a TC88 case with a TC96 crank and a 103 top end including head work. The left bearing will be upgraded to timken as well as the new cam drive. They were talking about all sorts of stuff and honestly I am not technical or a gear head. I just asked for a reliable engine to pull the hack without a problem 50-80 mph all day long. If the stock was good enough I would have gotten a HD reman for close to the same price.
