Question  for those  sidecar  owners  in the  UK.

Are there any  sidecar  owners  in SCOTLAND  ????????

I know  we have some  in England,  and at least one  in Wales, but what about  bonny olde SCOTLAND?

I am buying a  flat in  Fort Augustus,  and would like to  meet  any Scottish  sidecarists.

Please let me know if you are interested in  meeting.

Miles

Had to look Fort Augustus up on a map -- a village on Loch Ness 😮 .   I'd surely enjoy visiting and exploring the area.  Hope you meet up with some fellow sidecarists in Scotland.

Have you ever crossed Scotland without getting wet? Last year my son and I did. He received only 2 drops I stayed completely dry. We had our great price in the lottery using 2 nice solo bikes. (Kawa W800 and RE 500 Classic) The only rig we met on both islands was a right sided rig a few miles west of Fort Augustus, so it must have been someone from the Continent. All other three wheelers were quite a few Morgans of various ages and 2-3 CanAms. In any way a rig is the best tool to make family and excellent for a bit more comfort on a camping trip (in some areas B&B become seldom).

In 1985 close to Perth I met and visited a gentleman with a collection of 28 motorcycles of which 3 or 4 were sidecar rigs. So there do run some rigs around up there.

Don't hesitate to make the trip, its worth every (s)mile and your pay back are great memories and soar muscles.

Best wishes.

Sven

Thanks.

This is the historical info on the place I will be buying a flat. https://www.thehighlandclub.co.uk/history-fort-augustus-abbey

This is the olde Benedictine Abbey/School that we are buying a flat in.

HighlandClub 1031 HDRv2

The flat/apartment just above the black chess pieces, on the 2nd floor, is the one we are looking to purchase. Has 5 windows looking out onto the chess board and the Cloister Gardens.

Was just looking at the yearly average weather.  Seems conducive to summer touring, and winter sleigh rides.

Actually, the weather in northern Scotland, specifically at Fort Augustus, is identical to the weather where we live right now, all year long.

We prefer cooler days and nights, fog rolling in off Loch Ness, so that Nessie can hide in the fog, a little snow on the ground at Christmas time, so our Subaru can pass all the BMW's that are visiting from London.

This link was sent to me by an active inmate on that other hacks site, and it shows a LOT of sidecar clubs in the UK.

https://www.sidecars.org.uk/clubs-in-the-british-isles.html

Which indicates that sidecars are still an active form of transportation in the UK and Ireland.

Transportation, or...enjoyment Smile

Wow!  How cool is that!

Find an old closed up garage in the highlands, and refurbish it for use as a "Highlands Club Headquarters".  Would be a great stopping spot for all the clubs.

Now all I need is a passport, a sidecar to rent and $$$$.  This assuming Irish are welcome there. 😉

Looked the place up when you 1st mentioned it.

The real estate pics show it as something truly special.

Mind I visited my sister recently at Takalarup.

Hard to beat rural Australia.

Or walking with the wife on our very nearby beach at shoalwater.

Very fortunate people.

Mind I'm probably happiest on dirty messy streets in Cambodia with my Kmere family.

Picking up Dennis's Minerva shortly to put in the back of the Dodge.

Will be taking  them and the Fiat on my trailer to a car show on Sunday.
