Congratulations on your first public appearance Karen, well done!

It is a shame the harp has fallen out of popularity as its sound is mesmerizing. Please keep it going so we can hear more from you.

Thank you, Jan!  Karen is in an online harp community and online course for it.  Her most recent group was all about "public performance" and there were 186 members.  Karen was asked to be the first presenter at their recital.  Oddly, we just watched a Christmas program from Wheaton College that had 5! harps in use all at the same time.  They even had their own harp quintet.

I think the issue is not that there aren't as many playing harp, it's that they are shy.  Guess who isn't shy!

That was great!  Finger pluckin' good! So many strings.  I'm in awe of people who have the patience to learn an instrument, and the fine motor skills to make it work.  Seems like she's having a blast with it. 🤩

Merry Christmas Y'all.

There are a lot of  Harp players in the  Land of Eire, or.....Ireland.

There are a lot of  "harpists" in the US.

And.....a lot of "harpies" in jolly olde England.

Done with  Christmas dinner.  I cooked a  Lamb shank, with roasted potatoes and  beef drippings. 'twas quite good.

Dark outside  now, in the Land of the  Highland Cows....and it’s not even  noon yet on the least coast of the  US.

Funny you should mention Highland Cattle.  I was in Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago (procuring yarn for baby blankets) and there were dozens of decorating ideas with Highland Cattle.  They are, indeed an oddly scruffy yet noble breed.

In Jolly Olde Utah, we keep one in the guest bath to greet the visitors.

P.S.  He says "Merry Christmas Sweet Cheeks!".

I had wanted to go visit a cousin who is in hospital having his second lower leg removed on Christmas day.  Karen wasn't up to the trip and we intend going tomorrow.  Plan is to take the traveling harp to bring some post Christmas cheer.

Made it to see him today.  We had thought he would be released tomorrow, but, hey, hospitals.  We brought the harp and Karen played a couple of songs that he appreciated.  When he figured out that the gnome we gave for his Christmas present had been knit by Karen, he nearly got teary.

Mission accomplished!

That reminds me of a scene from Dr Who Reboot with Chris Eccleston.  Final scene of The Empty Child episode and an elderly woman asks the MD she has been under the care of why she has a regrown leg.  His reply: "well, there IS a war on."

All things considered, given that he was willing to succomb to the gangrene a month ago, he's now ready to move forward with life "not having to worry about toes rotting off."  If you knew his story, you'd nod and say "okay".
