You are much better off with a 2009 or newer Harley as you can run an automotive tire on the back. The Indian's make a great sidecar as well. The factory Harley sidecar leaves a lot to be desired as it has no suspension and the body is on leaf springs with no dampening. State of the art in the 1920's but pretty much obsolete by the start of WW2, Harley just kept building it the same way they always did mainly for police departments.
You might also look at our sidecars, our classic is styled off of the same Harley sidecar that Liberty is styled off of but at a lower price point. We also make two sidecars styled for the Indian, the Tomahawk and the Tomahawk SE, what we did to develop these sidecars is start with the basic styling of the 1940's Indian Princes sidecar but make it larger over all and made the fender match the new Indian. We can also build it with a Harley styled fender for use on bikes other then Indians. The SE gets a door in the side and the trunk opens from the out side. If your passenger has any mobility issues our classic, Liberty sidecars and factory Harley sidecars may not be a good choice as they can be difficult to get in and out of. The external opening trunk is also very nice to have.
