just had a look at my factory torsion suspension,..found a fair bit of toe-trail play in the pieces,..I have heard that old VW rubbers would fit? anyone know the make, model, style size or color of those bits required to recondition , or am I stuck fabricating a complete new suspension??? thanx for the help, and again, thanx Jay, I sent an e-mail, am awaiting a reply to bikescreen.com, cheers crawf.

We stock the bushings, They had two different set ups one used bearings, the other bushings. $24.95 for the bushing, you can also get it at any good bearings supply shop.

YOU CAB GO TO LIGHT UTILITY TRAILER PLACE AND GET PARTS FOR THE TORSION BARS AND EVEN BUY THE WHOLE PART

California sidecars torrsion suspension is no where near the same as trailer suspension parts. It runs no rubber, there are 5 flat springs. Depending on the year they are either 5 or 7 inches long. I have been told you can cut down VW bug front srings but I have no first hand experiance.
Trailer torssion suspension I feel does not work all that well for passenger sidecars. We do use the on cargo sidecars we made for cool cycles. http://www.coolcyclesicecream.com Usualy they are only sold in pairs so you end up not using one. UCF America makes them with a spline such that they are reversable which means you buy a pair and you can make two sidecars. They also have the lightest spring rate as most trailer units are way to stiff for sidecar use.
For passenger sidecars I would never run any kind of torsion bar suspension with out a shock.

I tried this when my daughter ran hers through the fence at the Skunk Rally. It made for an extremely rough ride. I bought the lightest duty one I could find, 500 pound if I remember right. It still rode like a tractor.

thanks all, I tore it down and found a 2420 needle bearing and insert on its way out,..local bearing supply for my work had the bearing for $14.00 and the insert for $19.00, a light dress with emery cloth and a smooth heat fit and we should be good to go when it arrives Tuesday, I was fortunate that the bar springs were in good repair and very useable. a little black paint on the frame work, and the freshly painted body will look like new. a big thanks to Gustuffson Plastics in Fla. .. they phoned me 10 minutes after my email inquiry to say yes they have it, in 4 days I'll get it for a fair price, neither delivery or customs should be a problem, I just hope I can get it all together before my Easter vacation in Myrtle Beach..thanks one and all for the help, cheers crawf.

update for those who may care,..suspension assembly went smoothly with heat fit of inner race and torsion bits into sand blasted housings,..hub tinmkins were re-packed as it was in good repair,..my tub body's paint is completed and clear coated, awaiting pick-up at a friends in Quebec( 7 hrs away), as the fairing and saddle bags are here and on the bike, I assume it looks just as great,..the new windshield should be in this week, as it left Florida on Wednesday, and a trip planed tomorrow to the local upolstery shop will see the seat and roof tears repaired ,..our" little hot-rod" ( daughter) is going to have a fresh, new chair this season, Easter weekend in Myrtle Beach should be a good way to test things out , we can't wait,...cheers crawf.
